Therapy is designed to alleviate pain, aide with mobility, or any other duty to increase the quality of life for a patient.  Functions of a therapists’ job are aimed at allowing patients to easily transition into society, and live a normal life.  Therapist careers commonly include such areas as physical, respiratory, occupational, and massage therapy, Audiology, and speech/language pathology.  As soon as a need for rehabilitation is detected, therapists are utilized to begin proper treatment.  Therapy employment generally requires specialization in a certain field, which include the following.

• Massage therapy- reduces stress and pain by applying pressure to the body’s soft tissues
• Audiology- treats ear related injuries and disorders
• Speech and Language- treats neurological maladies associated with oral and written communication

All therapist careers utilize a number of methods, medications, specialized equipment, and/or surgical procedures to treat all degrees of a disorder.  Professionals may be employed in schools, hospitals, nursing homes, fitness centers, private offices, or a number of other facilities.  A therapist job may be within a public or private facility, so a number of options are available to qualified candidates.  Professionals interested in therapy careers may pursue Bachelors to Doctorate degrees.  In combination with necessary education, physical requirements include the ability to lift, move, carry, and/or position patients or equipment as required, as well as sit or stand as a position mandates.

A therapist job search for qualified candidates should yield favorable results due to the relatively high occupational growth that is projected.  Advances in technology have increased survival rates, which will increase the number of professionals needed to rehabilitate patients.  Candidates seeking therapy employment will experience the best outlook if they have obtained formal education and a large amount of experience.
