The Phoenix Metropolitan area has an abundance of golf courses, parks, public swimming, hiking and bike paths. Phoenix is located in a desert valley that enjoys spring like weather from October to May.Key Requirements: U.S. Citizenship Designated and/or Random Drug Testing required. Major Duties: Provides complete audiologic diagnostic and management services to a diversified patient population, many of whom have substantial problems communicating that are complicated by other physical or mental impairments.  Develops an appropriate diagnosis and insightful treatment program for the patient. Specific services include screening, air and bone conduction, testing, speech audiometry and immitance evaluations.  Requests and thoroughly documents relevant patient biographical and medical history.  Combines this information with audiolgoic test results and clinical impressions and writes a comprehensive and lucid report which is in accordance with the established procedures of the Audiology and Speech Pathology Service. Performs Otoacoustic Auditory Emissions testing, Auditory Brainstem Response evaluations and Auditory Steady State Response evaluations.  Provides for the selection of and evaluation and assessment of hearing aids, assistive listening devices and aural rehabilitation. Provides patient and family/care giver instruction and counseling.Qualifications: DEFINITION OF SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicants with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.  Experience must have demonstrated professional knowledge of all state-of-the-art audiometric tests and protocols used in the assessment and evaluation of adult hearing disorders; a thorough knowledge of specialized site-lesion tests and the ability to provide them; knowledge of the principles and theories of Audiology.  Must be proficient in Otoacoustic Auditory Emissions testing and , Auditory Brainstem Response evaluations. Must be proficient in the evaluation and assessment of hearing aids (including real-ear measurements and speech mapping), assistive listening devices and aural rehabilitation. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: a)     Citizen of the United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g, this part.) b)    Master's degree or its equivalent in audiology or hearing science from an accredited college or university is required. c)     Licensure: Must maintain full, current, and unrestricted licensure/registration. d)    Proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d). a)     Master's degree or its equivalent in audiology or hearing science from an accredited college or university is required.You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position.After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use.You will need to successfully complete a background security investigation before you can be appointed into this position.You must meet time-in-grade restrictions by the closing date of this announcement.How You Will Be Evaluated: You will be evaluated to determine if you meet the minimum qualifications required; and on the extent to which your application shows that you possess the knowledges, skills, and abilities associated with this position as defined below.
