Focus primarily on quality care, monitoring of patient status and compliance, teaching patients and caregivers, and discharge planning. Deliver care based on Standards of Practice for the particular state and must be in compliance with company policy and regulatory requirements. Graduation from an approved Occupational Therapy program. Possess a valid certificate in the state(s) of practice. Previous experience in the home care setting is desired. A minimum of 6 months in an acute care or rehabilitation setting is required. Possess the ability to transfer, maneuver and lift incapacitated clients in the home setting. Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Asst Company: University of Louisville Hospital Location: Louisville, KY Description: A paraprofessional under the direction and supervision of the occupational therapist who provides selected occupational therapy interventions as indicated per treatment plan. He/she will progress patient toward established goals and maintain communication with the occupational therapist in regards to each patients status. The assistant will also provide appropriate education to patient and or family. 1. Performs modalities (moist heat, ice, pararffin). 2. Performs therapeutic procedures ( exercise, neuromuscular reeducation, edema massage, , orthotic fitting and training, prosthetic training, dynamic activities, compression garments).3. Utilizes exercise equipment (pulley system, UBE, computer, desensitization dowel).4. Reports to occupational therapist when re-evaluations are needed and or changes in patient status. 5. Delegates tasks and duties as indicated.6. Participates in continuing education, departmental meetings, and in-service programs.7. Adjusts patient care schedule and prioritizes tasks as indicated. 8. Performs documentation per policy and procedures ( progress notes, discharge summary, and multi-disciplinary education and treatment plan forms).9.
