A paraprofessional under the direction and supervision of the occupational therapist who provides selected occupational therapy interventions as indicated per treatment plan. He/she will progress patient toward established goals and maintain communication with the occupational therapist in regards to each patients status. The assistant will also provide appropriate education to patient and or family. 1. Performs modalities (moist heat, ice, pararffin). 2. Performs therapeutic procedures ( exercise, neuromuscular reeducation, edema massage, , orthotic fitting and training, prosthetic training, dynamic activities, compression garments).3. Utilizes exercise equipment (pulley system, UBE, computer, desensitization dowel).4. Reports to occupational therapist when re-evaluations are needed and or changes in patient status. 5. Delegates tasks and duties as indicated.6. Participates in continuing education, departmental meetings, and in-service programs.7. Adjusts patient care schedule and prioritizes tasks as indicated. 8. Performs documentation per policy and procedures ( progress notes, discharge summary, and multi-disciplinary education and treatment plan forms).9.
