Reflectx Services is looking for an individual who is licensed under the laws of the state as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant / COTA. Implement occupational therapy services for patients under the supervision of an occupational therapist, with services including treatment, standardized assessment data and documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Demonstrate and articulate sound clinical reasoning in treatment planning, implementation and monitoring of patient progress.
* Recognize when standard patient protocols or treatment plans need modification to meet individual patient needs & reports to therapist.
* Understand the role of therapy in the context of the patient's age, total needs perspective and environment.
* Perform age appropriate advanced competency skills in area of practice and with respect to individual patient's problems.
* Assess the learning needs and capabilities of patients and caregivers with regard to age, level of understanding & emotional status.
* Consistently report to therapist patient progress/status to allow for update of goals and modification of treatment program.
* Utilize appropriate methods and materials for effective learning, monitoring response to education, and adapting program appropriately.Minimum Requirements:
* Associate's degree in occupational therapy preferred and/or state requirements.

I. Position Summary:
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant provides direct therapy procedures and interventions under the general supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. This position requires population specific competencies. Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires.
II. Essential Functions:
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
* Assesses patient performance commensurate with their training and qualifications
* Recommends equipment or alteration to architectural barriers to the therapist of record for their respective discipline.
* Intervenes with self care, home management; therapeutic activities, performing and interpreting manual muscle and range of motion tests; positioning/seating, transfers, fine motor and gross motor skill, coordination; neuromuscular facilitation; motor control; design, fabrication or application of selected orthotics or prosthetic devices; pressure garment fitting; guidance in the selection and use of adaptive equipment; exercises to enhance functional performance; functional training for integration and reintegration in the community, home, and work, work simulation, and ergonomics; energy conservation; joint protection; feeding techniques and oral motor facilitation; functional mobility; therapeutic modalities; sensorimotor activities; psychosocial skills and behavior management; cognitive retraining; and appraisal and adaptation of
environments for patients with mental and/or physical disabilities
* Educates of persons served and other stakeholders
* Communicates and documents treatment and appropriate charges for treatment per policy and procedure
III. Accountability:
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant reports to the therapist delegating a patient and the Rehab Clinical Manager.
IV. Qualifications:
* Associates degree from an accredited school for Occupational Therapy Assistants
* Oklahoma Occupational Therapist Assistant license or license within 6 months of hire date
* Experience is preferred
* Aquatics Department Only: Must complete Water Safety Certification within 6 month of hire date
* Knowledge of Aquatic interventions
* 2 years experience preferred
* Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal/written)
V. Required Physical Demands:

Medium (Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects)

Potential for bodily injury related to lifting and cumulative stress.
Potential for workplace violence (agitated, confused, combative patients, angry family members). Must follow universal safety precautions. Frequent exposure to hydrocollator. Moderate to frequent exposure to oven, stove, microwave, and heat gun depending on venue of care. May be exposed to constant interruptions, noise, disagreeable odors, and assorted chemicals. Must cope with high case loads and multiple demands. May float to other units.
Aquatics
Frequent exposure to pool chemicals. Frequent exposure to heat and humidity in pool area. Driving Rehabilitation. Exposed to traffic and weather conditions while riding with patients who are driving.
