Occupational Therapist Assistant - COTA - NBCOT - CPR - Hospital - Secret Clearance If you are a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant with a security clearance, please read on! What you need for this position: Two letters of recommendation attesting to the health care worker's clinical skills. A minimum of one letter must be from a supervisor. Reference letters must include name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing the reference. Adaptability and flexibility to short suspense's and project turnaround Knowledge of basic biological/medical science and psychology. This includes but is not limited to common medical terminology, basic biology, anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, pathology, of disease, normal and abnormal psychology, and basic teaching and learning principles. Knowledge of and experience in applying OT theories, principles, and methodologies to the care of Warriors in Transition. Ability to perform OT data collection methods such as chart reviews, interviews, observations, and standardized assessment / measurement techniques for evaluating human performance. Knowledge of OT treatment planning and implementation techniques to include progress assessment and making recommendations for changes in treatment programs. Knowledge and experience with goal setting and goal attainment processes. Knowledge of work therapy / work reintegration practices and principles within OT. Knowledge of activity analysis and job analysis processes. Ability to provide professional information and orientation to other disciplines and staff by means of informal group discussions or formal lectures. What you'll be doing: Develop specialized treatment plans Develops / presents a profile to be used in assessing the Warrior in Transition's status and ascertaining the need of OT services. Documents information related to all Warrior in Transition care in accordance with guidelines from the AOTA, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospital Organizations, current military protocols and as instructed by supervisor. Takes part in interdisciplinary teams to make recommendations for the Warrior in Transition's rehabilitation and reintegration needs. Maintains treatment areas, administrative areas and personal spaces in a safe, orderly manner. Performs non-technical maintenance of equipment to prevent malfunctions. Contributes to the identification of supply needs. Contributes to the marketing of OT throughout the Warrior in Transition Brigade. The incumbent will be required to effectively coordinate a diversified program that potentially reaches outside the boundaries of the Military Treatment Facility (MTF) and the region and involves multiple military and civilian organizations. Coordinates and prioritizes time in relation to overlapping demands of administrative duties and Warrior in Transition care services. Completes required data collection for workload management and analysis and research studies as directed. Maintains professional credentials and completes all mandatory medical/government required training knowing and complying with all installation safety prevention regulations. Such regulations include, but are not limited to, general safety, fire prevention, and waste disposal. Compliance with Security and Access requirements. CONFIDENTIALITY and HIPAA compliance with Army and MTF regulations. All employees shall abide by AR 40-66 concerning the confidentiality of patient records, as embodied in federal statutes including the Privacy Act of 1974 and the Drug and Alcohol Act, Public Law 92-129 and HIPAA. As a certified occupational therapy assistant, you will provide direct therapeutic care to a diverse patient population with a variety of patient diagnoses to include but not limited to: orthopedic injury, pediatric neurological disorders; traumatic injury; amputation & mental health patients. You will educate patients in the use and care of prosthetics, including activities of daily living (ADL) training and upper extremity (UE) prosthetic training. You will assist with adjustments or modify splints, braces, etc., as needed to facilitate treatment, and/or recommend changes in equipment to physician. Knowledge of indications and contraindications of all employed modalities and treatment techniques is required to educate patients in a variety of exercise programs, including pre and postoperative exercise regimens. You will also serve as the subject matter expert in occupational and rehabilitation therapy for other rehab therapy techs.
