Patients also receive care and treatment for co-existing medical problems and/or substance abuse. Responsibilities: Performs all duties and responsibilities of a OT I, OT II and OT III at an advanced competence level, providing care to the acute psychiatric inpatient population approximately 85% of the time and providing guidance and structure for all daily activities of practitioners or service program need 15% of the time. Incumbents in this senior level position have advanced clinical knowledge and skills and act as a resource and mentor for less experienced clinicians in their own discipline. Responsible for orienting and assessing competence of new occupational therapy staff in acute inpatient psychiatry; teaching and supervising less experienced personnel in acute inpatient psychiatry; assessing the clinical competence and ongoing clinical performance of team members and communicating performance results to the clinical services manager. 2. In collaboration with clinical services manager, organize, direct, distribute and coordinate work for the acute inpatient psychiatric occupational therapy program. Collect, analyze and review statistics and outcome measures on an on going basis with recommendations for performance improvement. 3. Assist clinical services manager in evaluation of designated clinical and specialty programs and determine efficacy of programs within the scope and philosophy of Rehabilitation Services and the Medical Center. 4. Initiate and accept additional responsibilities in areas of program development, teaching, research, and administration as appropriate to meet identified department or service needs. 5. Participate in teams and projects external to the department serving as an interdisciplinary and interdepartmental resource for the profession and Rehabilitation Services. Incumbents in this position have graduated from an accredited program in Occupational Therapy with a Bachelor’s Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, possess a valid license issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and have a minimum of 5 years of work experience.
