Job Title: Physical Therapy Assistant Company: Community Health Systems Location: Watsonville, CA Description: The Physical Therapy Assistant is an educated, licensed health care provider who assists the Physical Therapist in the provision of Physical Therapy services. The Physical Therapy Assistant may perform Physical Therapy procedures and related tasks and projects that have been selected and delegated by the Supervising Physical Therapist and or Rehabilitation Department Director. These duties shall be in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of Watsonville Community Hospital. The Physical Therapy Assistant may also carry out routine operational functions in addition to the treatment of patients and associated documentation. These functions may include clerical support tasks, facility maintenance, billing entry, quality improvement, and staff education. The ability of the Physical Therapy Assistant to perform the selected and delegated tasks shall be assessed on an ongoing basis by the supervising Physical Therapist. The Physical Therapy Assistant may modify a specific treatment procedure in accordance with changes in patient status, and within the scope of the established treatment plan. The Physical Therapy Assistant must work under the supervision of a Physical Therapist in all practice settings. The Physical Therapy Assistant must have on-site supervision 50% of the time, as specified in the California Practice Act. The Physical Therapy Assistant shall maintain a positive rapport with the other members of the patient care team, including outside sources (i.e. community-based programs, physicians, nurses). The Physical Therapy Assistant (P.T.A) assists in the ongoing monitoring of continuous quality improvement and quality improvement team programs. The P.T.A. demonstrates a positive attitude and performs related duties as requested or necessary to fulfill the patients/hospitals/departments needs. The P.T.A. reports to the Department Manager or Director of Rehab.
