Description:
This position is located in the IHS Eagle Butte Area, in the Eagle Butte Physical Therapy Department. The incumbent will be competent in the use, maintenance, cleaning, and operation of Physical Therapy department equipment, including hydro collator, freezer, weights, and be able to set up any U.S. and electrical stimulation units. The incumbent will administer the full range of physical therapy agents. The incumbent will be familiar with and able to run the Electronic Health Record GUI so that he/she is able to register a patient; document chief complaint, POV (purpose of visit), treatment information in SOAP note format, patient education, length of treatment and services provided (billing information with appropriate codes). The incumbent will be able to transport inpatients to/from department via wheelchair/ambulation as applicable at direction of Physical Therapist while maintaining patient modesty and with respect to hospital infection control policies. The incumbent will have basic understanding of equipment utilized with inpatient populations and be able to work safely with patient who is utilizing said equipment at direction of Physical Therapist. The incumbent will assist with toileting and associated activities as directed by Physical Therapist. The incumbent will be responsible for specific secretarial duties. The incumbent will perform all other duties requested and at direction of Physical Therapist, including, but not limited to, photocopying and faxing. The incumbent will assist with scheduling of patients. These duties will include but are not limited to use of the computerized scheduling program to schedule patient appointments at the time they present to clinic or call to schedule an appointment, enter cancellations and no-shows as appropriate, make scheduling changes as needed, work with the physical Therapist to maintain a well functioning and flowing schedule, and mail letters as appropriate per department policy. The incumbent will identify patients whose health benefits are subject to prior approval. The incumbent will identify patients whose health benefits are subject to prior approval. The incumbent will call third party insurance provided to obtain prior approval and pre-certification for Physical Therapy visits. The incumbent files printed patient notes from the Electronic Health Record GUI and all physical therapy related forms in correct order in medical record. The incumbent will maintain record confidentiality in accordance with Privacy Act of 1974, HIPPA, FOIA and other pertinent regulations. Performs other job related duties as assigned.
