Position Summary: The Physical Therapy Assistant provides and documents physical therapy treatment, under the direction and supervision of a Physical Therapist, to meet the rehabilitation needs of the patient. Essential Functions: The Physical Therapy Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: * Coordinates and delivers patient care and continually assess needs of client and employees * Notifies the Physical Therapist and consults with the Therapist regarding care of the patient and rehabilitation potential * Maintains all records related to Physical Therapy, ensuring that all records are complete and contain time data and time of treatments, as well as type of treatment * Assists patients reach the maximum performance while learning to live within capability * Reports changes in patient condition/response to treatment to the department head and the physician that may require prompt attention * Teaches the family and other staff personnel the delivery of physical therapy plan of care III. Accountability: The Physical Therapy Assistant reports to the Director of the Department. IV. Qualifications: * Current Oklahoma Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) license * 2 years experience preferred * Must be able to communicate effectively in English V. Required Physical Demands: Strength (Lift, Carry, Push, Pull): Heavy (Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects) Standing/Walking: Constantly; activity exists 2/3 or more of the time Keyboard/Dexterity: Occasionally; activity exists up to 1/3 of the time Talking (Must effectively communicate verbally): Yes Seeing: Yes Hearing: Yes Color Acuity: Yes VI. Environmental Conditions: Level: High Work may involve muscular strain in supporting, lifting, and assisting patients. Frequent exposures to infection and diseases. Slight danger of burns or electrical shock. Moderate exposure to hazardous risks, including potential for exposure to infections and communicable diseases electrical equipment, chemicals. Must be knowledgeable in prevention and control of infection and transmission of infectious diseases. Must be able to follow guidelines for isolations. Potential for bodily injury related to lifting and incidents of workplace violence. Must follow universal safety precautions. Exposed to constant interruptions, noise, disagreeable odors, and assorted chemical.
