The Recreation Therapist will be responsible to provide activity therapy services to inmates in the facility in accordance with the policies and procedures of Correct Care Solutions, the policies and procedures of the Facility, and consistent with recognized standards of activity therapy. Activities will focus on the development, restoration, and performance of necessary daily living skills, compensation for dysfunctional behavior, minimization of debilitation in daily life tasks and/or provision of opportunity for recreation.
Requirements:
Associate or bachelor's degree in activity therapy, therapeutic recreation, or related field required. Experience in providing services to a mentally ill population and/or certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist preferred. Corrections experience a plus.
Shift: Full-time, Days; Some travel to the facilities in Vermont required.
Location: The Regional Office will be located in Waterbury, VT. In partnership with the Vermont DOC, we will have facilities in Springfield, Windsor, St. Johnsbury, South Burlington, Rutland and Newport, VT

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of experience in an organized recreational program as a worker, teacher, instructor, counselor, or closely related position.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
College training which included at least six semester hours per year in recreation, recreation therapy, physical education, music therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, drama therapy, horticultural therapy or psychology may be substituted for the required experience on the basis of thirty semester hours for one year of experience.
