Job Title: Recreational Therapist Company: Location: Washington, DC Description: As a Recreation Therapist you will be responsible for developing, organizing, and administering Recreation Therapy programs by proving therapeutic treatment to patients in various areas, e.g., spinal cord injury, psychiatric, cardiac rehabilitation, Hospital Based Home Care Program, Community Living Center, Trauma Services, Psychosocial Rehabilitation Recovery Center, Homeless Outreach, Polytrauma Treatment Program  and Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program Clinics.  The incumbent is specifically assigned to the Community Living Center with corollary duties as directed.  The incumbent: assembles pre-evaluation data, interprets medical record information, reviews therapy prescriptions, and conducts mental and physical evaluations of patients in order to develop and implement a treatment plan; employs therapeutic objectives, which are complex because of the severe and multiple disabilities regularly encountered; interprets and administers physician's recreation therapy prescriptions, schedules patients for treatment, and integrates Recreation Therapy activities with other treatment in order to achieve the goals established for the patient; administers therapeutic recreation activities that strengthen debilitated muscles resulting from advanced age, prolonged bed rest, amputation, stroke, fractures, wound care, and joint replacement; coordinates the overall treatment plan with treatments team and patients family/caregiver to provide a program which focuses on treatment goals and; functions as a core team member of a clinical disciplinary team for the purpose of providing total health care delivery to the client.  You will also be responsible for training/supervising assigned volunteers and other duties are performed as required the supervisor.

Job Title: Recreation Therapist Company: The HSC Pediatric Center Location: Washington, DC Description: The Recreation Therapist will provide a therapeutic milieu in which the HSC patients are motivated to engage in recreational activities that are safe, constructive, educational, enjoyable, and rehabilitative. This individual must have a BA/BS degree in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation Therapy from a National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) accredited institution. The Recreation Therapist must demonstrate a professional and enthusiastic interest in pediatric program enhancement/development to address the diverse and holistic needs of this population. The Therapist must have a working knowledge of the principles of pediatric recreation therapy, knowledge of growth and development and of diseases and disabilities. The Therapist must also have the ability to work well with others, to communicate well both verbally and in writing. This individual must have a working knowledge of infection control principles and techniques. A Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certification and current CPR is required. A Tracheostomy training course must be completed within three months of hire. The Recreation Therapist must be registered as a Recreation Therapist in The District of Columbia.
