Serves as a resource regarding respiratory care, institutes, monitors and maintains mechanical ventilators, continuous positive pressure devices, oxygen and humidity devices. Institutes, monitors and maintains therapy gases such as oxygen. Administers aerosol, MDI, postural drainage with percussion, and chest-wall oscillation (vest and IPV) treatments. Maintains equipment in proper working order. Obtains blood samples for analyzing blood gas and acid-based values from arterial, venous and peripheral lines and from capillary samples. Performs bedside spirometry, oximetry (including overnight and walking), capnography, and auto-titrating CPAP. Manages and directs patient care according to assess and treat protocals/pathways.
