Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist- 6 p.m.-6:30 a.m. Full-time Company: Catholic Health Initiatives Location: Grand Island, NE Description: Responsible for administering routine, critical care and diagnostic procedures to patients suffering from acute and chronic respiratory and cardiac problems. May be asked to function as shift supervisor for subordinate personnel. Provides input into the development of department policies, procedures, scheduling, and evaluation of subordinate employees. The person in this position will work with all ages including premature babies, neonates, pediatrics, teens, young adults, middle aged adults and geriatrics. They must possess knowledge and skills to meet the specific needs of each group.Essential DutiesIn accordance with established policies, administers and monitors critical care procedures, such as mechanical ventilation, physiological monitoring, and diagnostic procedures as designated by Director.Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation as required in emergency cases.In accordance with established policies and procedures, administers routine therapy such as oxygen, aerosol, humidity, chest physical, hyperinflation, and also provides home care instruction.Performs complex and/or non-routine therapeutic procedures, such as modifying equipment to meet specific, critical care patients needs.Instructs new employees by demonstrating medication preparation, charting, reporting procedures and equipment setup and operation.Instructs patients and families in procedures and treatments, in order to allay fears, anxieties and elicit cooperation during therapy.Monitors patients closely during treatments by assessing the patients pulse, respiratory rate, color, cough and breath sounds. Notifies nursing staff and physicians immediately in case of extreme patient distress. Reports monitored therapy and observations at report time to next staff responsible for the patients care.
