Job Purpose The Speech/Language Pathologist assesses a patient?s communication and cognitive skills and provides goal-directed treatment to facilitate the achievement of maximum communication/ cognitive potential. The SLP completes all assigned tasks and duties to the fullest of his/her ability and performs the duties of Staff SLP with excellence in skills and performance treatment a variety of ages including pediatrics, adolescent, adult and geriatric clients. Qualifications

GENERAL RESPONSIBILTIES:
· Diagnostic evaluation, habilitation and rehabilitative services to clients with speech and language disorders may be delivered to the school students, adult acquired brain injured population, Hayden Specialty Hospital and in the Outpatient Clinic as determined by the Director of the Communication Disorders Program.
· Carry out diagnoses of speech language disorders by evaluating history, etiology and symptomatology through the use of specialized tests, patient interview, acoustic and linguistic analysis of speech and language samples.
· Make additional recommendations for diagnostic referrals needed to fully assess the speech and language problem.
· Develop and implement individual treatment plans and evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment program periodically with appropriate alteration made to that treatment plan.
· Consultation services are to be provided to interdisciplinary team members regarding the speech, language and communication development of an individual client.
· Provide appropriate counseling and guidance to communication disordered individuals, families and associates, and LEA regarding the nature, progress and prognosis of the speech, language communication disorders.
· Participation on an interdisciplinary team for each client, preparation of written reports and maintenance of client's record, attendance at meetings regarding each client, participation in program planning, inservice training and activities within the Department and on specialty teams as directed by the Director.
· May supervise and evaluate a Clinical Fellow, Speech-Language Assistant and/or graduate student. Supervision is outlined in three separate documents which are on file in the department: Supervision of Speech-Language Assistant, Communication Tech Specialist and Graduate Students.
· Participation in various groups is encouraged, such as Dysphaiga team, research group,
