In accordance with the needs of the ages of the population served by KKI, the Speech Language Pathologist I provides home-based parent training and therapy to assist in the development of all areas of communication, oral motor and feeding skills for children with developmental disabilities, and their families. In addition, the Speech/Language Pathologist I assists the family with coordination of all community services (i.e., school, medical, social, etc.). The Speech Language Pathologist I is also responsible for providing consultation to other team members, as needed. Responsibilities: 1. Provide parent training and therapy programs that focus on resolving an identified condition or diminishing its functional impact, with consideration given to setting clear and measurable goals and incorporating child and family needs, interests, abilities, and perspective. Utilize a range of techniques to engage children and families.2. Provide home-based functional communication (i.e., speech and language), oral motor, and feeding assessments to determine presence and (where detected) degree of handicapping conditions, with consideration to child and family's needs.3. Initiate and maintain contact with referral sources and other KKI and community providers to assist in coordination of services and to foster productive relationships in the community.4. Meet all assigned revenue goals, and complete all paperwork in a manner consistent with Institute and Departmental expectations as well as guidelines established by JCAHO, CARF and ASHA.5. Function as a member of the Child and Family Support Program team through active participation in team conferences and meetings, providing technical assistance, training, and support to other team members.6. Initiate and participate in projects which contribute to the growth of the Child and Family Support Program (e.g., groups, special projects, trainee supervision, trainings and publications). Qualifications: EDUCATION: Must have Master's degree in speech/language pathology. Must have a Maryland license in speech pathology. Must be eligible for Certificate of Clinical Competence by A.S.H.A.EXPERIENCE: Must have experience with developmental disabilities and pediatric evaluation & treatment. Experience in coordinating community services preferred.
