Speech Pathologist-PRN position
Evaluates patients' abilities and limitations. Establishes treatment goals based on the evaluation, reason for the referral and team interaction. Administers therapy according to the established plan, utilizing appropriate procedures, equipment and techniques within the scope of practice of Speech Pathology. Educates the patient and the caregiver about the goals of the program, methods of accomplishing goals, how to perform the home program and injury prevention.
Recommends adaptive equipment, completes the equipment justification forms and arranges for the delivery of the equipment. Re-evaluates patients, assesses their progress and makes recommendations regarding discharge. Consults and co-treats with therapists from other disciplines.
Provides documentation of patient care according to established criteria. Participates in continuous quality improvement projects. Supervises the patient care activities of aides, assistants, attendants and volunteers.
Participates in in-services, medical conferences, staff meetings, continuing education courses, team meetings and other related activities. Assists with departmental maintenance and supplies. Provides in-services for staff, other departments and the community.
Master's Degree in Speech Pathology; current licensure to practice as a Speech Pathologist in the State of Utah; and certification by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) required.

Job Description
The Speech-Language Pathologist provides speech-language therapy treatment and patient care according to hospital, state, professional and federal regulations and guidelines. In addition, the position:
- Requires effective communication skills for working with patients, families, and caregivers.
- Requires effective communication skills for departmental and interdepartmental relationships.
- Requires competency in speech-language pathology evaluation, assessment, care planning and treatment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
License or Certification:
- Must be in possession of current state license or certification on or before the first day of employment.
- CPR certification preferred unless otherwise required by hospital policy.
Education, Training and Experience
- Successful completion of a Master's degree or higher from an accredited therapy program or one that is determined to be substantially equivalent to a U.S. accredited program by an appropriate certifying agency preferred.

- Good visual acuity and ability to communicate.
