Job DescriptionWith guidance from the Director of Therapy Operations, using some independent judgment, Therapy Manager supervises Therapy Services, which may include inpatient or outpatient therapy, in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, regulations, and guidelines to assure that the highest degree of quality care is rendered at all times. In addition, the Therapy Manager:* Requires effective supervisory skills along with good communication skills for interdepartmental relationships. * Requires competency in therapy discipline for evaluation, assessment, care planning and treatment.* Requires task delegation and supervision of therapy discipline assistants and technicians.* Is responsible for staffing and scheduling to provide adequate coverage for patient treatments. * Supervises therapy staff.* Maintains open and on-going communication with directors and managers to ensure patient, staff, and hospital needs are met.* Typically provides patient care in licensed discipline 50% - 75% of work hours.The Therapy Manager is responsible to help create an environment and culture that enables the hospital to fulfill its mission by meeting or exceeding its goals, conveying the hospital mission to all staff, holding staff accountable for performance, motivating staff to improve performance and being responsible for the operation of the department, measurement, assessment and continuous improvement of the department*s performance.POSITION REQUIREMENTS License or Certification:* Must have current state license as a Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist; in states where licensing is not required, defer to state practice act. * CPR certification preferred unless otherwise required by hospital policy.Education, Training and Experience* Successfully completed a Bachelor*s degree or higher from an accredited therapy program* Three years of rehabilitation experience with some supervisory experience is required.Machines, Equipment Used:* General office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, computer.Physical Requirements: * Visual acuity and ability to communicate sufficiently to conduct safe patient care duties* Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 30 pounds, which includes participating in patient mobility activities.Skills and Abilities:* Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend English.* Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner* Ability to communicate effectively in both writing and verbal arenas as well as via email.* Ability to work independently without supervision.Environmental Conditions:* Indoor, temperature controlled, smoke-free environment.
