Job Summary:
The Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program in the Department of Rehabilitation is seeking one new faculty member for a 9-month or 12-month clinical or tenure-track appointment beginning July 15, 2025, to teach in the OTD program.
The successful candidate is expected to participate as a full member of the faculty with all relevant duties, responsibilities, and benefits. The faculty member in this position is responsible for teaching in the area of content expertise (pediatrics, human development, and foundational practice courses) to assist occupational therapy students with knowledge acquisition and knowledge application necessary for entry-level practice in accordance with the accreditation standards and curriculum. The faculty member engages in service, scholarly activity, and supports the mission and vision of the university, department, and program.
Candidates considered for a tenure-track position must possess a terminal academic doctoral degree by the start date and demonstrate the potential for research productivity. Faculty rank commensurate with education and experience. Some appointments may be eligible for tenure. Clinical track appointments may be convertible to tenure-track no later than the end of year three of the appointment.
The Department of Rehabilitation is a growing multidisciplinary department with over 22 faculty and staff offering graduate programs in a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and a Master of Science in Orthotics and Prosthetics.
The department is located within the College of Health Sciences, which includes numerous programs including Speech and Language Pathology, Audiology, Social Work, and Allied Health Sciences. The College is part of the Universitys Academic Health Sciences Division, which also houses the James H. Quillen College of Medicine, the Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy, the College of Public Health, and the College of Nursing. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required Qualifications:
- Earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution (i.e., post-professional clinical doctorate, PhD, EdD, ScD)
- Strong commitment to graduate interprofessional education
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as an occupational therapist in Tennessee
- Knowledge of current trends and evidence-based practice in OT
- Content expertise in pediatrics and human development
- Knowledge of instructional strategies to include online teaching experience
- Minimum three years full-time clinical experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possess extensive teaching, clinical, and research experience in occupational therapy
- Terminal academic degree (EdD, PhD, ScD)
- Proven track record in scholarly activity
- Knowledge of ACOTE education standards
- Experience in delivering online education
- Advanced clinical and teaching expertise in pediatrics
