This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Ridgewood YMCA creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals. The Massage Therapist will offer safe and effective therapeutic massage/bodywork to address any specific needs of members and contribute to their total wellness. The Massage Therapist must be a self-starter committed to displaying high customer service standards and following appropriate procedures and protocols established by the Ridgewood YMCA.
Qualifications- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Massage Therapist.
- Valid New York State massage therapy license required.
- Adult CPR/First Aid/AED.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Provide a high level of service with regards to members needs, concerns, and questions about the YMCA, its programs and mission.
- Perform massage therapy for members to help relieve stress, reduce aches/pains and impact the overall feeling of well-being.
- Exhibit knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, myology, pathology, somatic, ethics, various massage/bodywork modalities, and apply accordingly.
- Maintain a professional relationship with clients/members.
- Maintain hygiene and cleanliness of work areas according to local, state and federal health and safety regulations.
- Collect receipts from members and hand in receipts on a weekly basis.
- Have complete knowledge and understanding of all services offered.
- Be punctual for all appointments and maintain necessary records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain required licenses/certifications/continuing education hours.
- Actively participate in training sessions and designated meetings.
- Support community and promotional special events as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
