TITLE: OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Occupational Therapy Certification/ OTR/L
- Ability to work cooperatively with a variety of medical and school personnel and function productively within each building
- Ability to communicate effectively with parents
- Ability to establish rapport with a variety of students
REPORTS TO: CMLRCC Director
JOB GOAL: The occupational therapist will assess, diagnose, and provide OT services to students according to school-based OT guidelines. The occupational therapist will provide consultative services to assure students can access and benefit from educational programs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise school personnel on a consultative basis.
- Maintain a current license and personal malpractice insurance.
- Comply with and follow Montana Special Education Office of Public Instruction regulations, Montana state occupational therapy licensure regulations and the American Occupational Therapy Association code of Ethics.
- Screen, evaluate, and re-evaluate referred students through a variety of standardized and non-standardized procedures appropriately selected to identify functional performance levels and participate in students ER either through written report, telephone, or in person.
- Participate in IEPs for students receiving OT services.
- Plan and implement treatment and or consultative programs for eligible students as stated in their IEPs.
- Provide information to ER and IEP meetings using computer-based data management systems.
- Develop, teach, and supervise OT monitoring programs for students, in compliance with accepted practices, and conduct therapies in the presence of school staff who will be responsible to support the students programming.
- Submit quarterly reports on student progress toward meeting their annual fine/gross motor goals.
- Suggest or design/construct adaptive equipment and devices needed by students (with approval of the director).
- Coordinate occupational therapy programs of students with the educational program, home programs, and services of other disciplines.
- Provide formal and informal in-service programs for teachers, parents, and appropriate school personnel.
- Provide office personnel with weekly and monthly schedules and inform office personnel of any deviations from the schedule.
- Attend and participate in appropriate committees related to evaluation.
- Maintain an appropriate system of student referral, record keeping, and reporting recommendations.
- Determine treatment priorities, appropriate caseloads, schedules and procedures for providing OT services.
- Complete evaluations in a timely manner and provide reports to ER and IEP teams.
- Provide Medicaid billing information and appropriate therapy documentation in a timely manner.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 1.0 FTE =187 days. $50,000 base for intern. Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Representatives.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Boards Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
