Job Description:
The School of Physical Therapy ( SOPT ) in the College of Health Professions ( COHP ) invites applications for a 12-month, part-time (28.0 hrs./week), benefits-eligible, clinical-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor to begin summer 2025. The candidate will have the ability to assist core faculty members with teaching laboratory skills in three or more areas of physical therapy practice: cardiopulmonary, acute care, skilled nursing, geriatrics, or home health. The candidate will participate in both independent and team teaching. The candidate will also supervise DPT students in the SOPT pro bono clinic and participate in any future clinical residency program. Responsibilities will focus on teaching and participating in clinical assessments (e.g., skills checks and practical examinations) and teaching in the CASES course series. This part-time position will have limited expectations for scholarship. The candidate will participate in some SOPT service activities (e.g., committees and student advising) as assigned by the chairperson.

Required Qualifications Education:
  • Physical Therapy degree (BS, MPT , DPT )
  • Current unrestricted physical therapy license in West Virginia or eligible for West Virginia licensure.


Experience:
  • Minimum of two years of full-time clinical experience required; three years of full-time clinical experience preferred.
  • Ability and interest in engaging in a team-teaching environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


Preferred Qualifications Education:

Experience:
  • Prior teaching experience in an entry-level DPT program or PTA program.
  • Evidence of participation in peer-reviewed publications and/or presentations
  • American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties Board Certification
  • Residency or Fellowship training
  • A terminal academic degree (PhD, EdD, DSc)
  • Active engagement in the physical therapy profession, demonstrated by current membership and involvement in the American Physical Therapy Association
