Speech-Language Pathologist

Maintains minimum requirements of a Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, current MS SLP license, and current Certificate of Clinical Competence or CFY. Provides direct and indirect patient care for adult and pediatric patients in a variety of settings to include performing evaluations, developing treatment plans, providing appropriate treatment, and planning discharge per standards set by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. Communicates with physicians, nurses, dieticians, social workers, co-workers, and caretakers regarding patient assessment, recommendations, plan and prognosis .

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:

A. Professional Requirements:

Appropriately administers and interprets standardized assessments for articulation, language, and cognitive skills

Establish appropriate diet recommendations and compensatory strategies based on clinical dysphagia assessment

Establishes appropriate and pertinent plan of care based on chart review, diagnosis, and clinical findings

Accurately and efficiently completes E-Care documentation

Meets CEU requirements for assigned intervals to maintain current, valid MS State Dept of Health license and ASHA CCC or CFY

Actively participates in the department's performance improvement (PI) activities

Adheres to and utilizes appropriate infection control policies

Participates in orientation of new personnel

Attends mandatory staff meetings and remains current with HealthStream requirements

Meets annual requirements as defined by the facility

B. Education and Regulatory Requirements:

Current MS state license

Current ASHA CCC-SLP

CPR certification

C. Exposure Classifications:

Classification I: Jobs in which required tasks routinely involve a potential for mucous membranes or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or potential spills or splashes. Use of appropriate measures is required for every healthcare provider in these jobs
