The Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT) program within the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (COPHS) at Butler University invites applications for the Director of Clinical Education. This position has a preferred start date of July 1, 2025 or soon thereafter.

The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is proposing an expansion of programs to include a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy program. The program is a professional bachelor's degree that will seek accreditation from CoARC (Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care).

This position is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track, faculty appointment. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate's level of experience and qualifications at the time of hiring. Faculty will engage in teaching, scholarship, and service activities consistent with the requirements of COPHS faculty.

The Director of Clinical Education (DCE) position will be responsible for all aspects of the clinical experiences of students enrolled in the program, including organization, administration, continuous review and revision, planning for and development of locations for evolving practice skills, and the general effectiveness of clinical experience. In addition, the DCE will be responsible for assisting the Program Director with non-experiential duties, such as accreditation self-study application, admissions, and other administrative tasks. This position will also have teaching responsibilities in the RT program based on area of interest and needs of the program.

Applicants must possess the following qualifications:

  • Master's degree from an academic institution accredited by an institutional accrediting agency

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist credential (RRT)

  • Be eligible or hold a professional license or certification as required by the state of Indiana

  • The applicant must apply for a current Indiana state license, if hired

  • At least four (4) years clinical experience as an RRT

  • At least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care

  • Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs

  • Have the ability to complete the CoARC Key Personnel Training Program

  • Certificate of completion required within 24 months of being hired

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with healthcare partners

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Familiarity with accreditation (CoARC) and state regulations/scope of practice
  • Proficiency with various teaching modalities, including classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction

The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences offers a diverse set of programs leading to Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences, Bachelor of Science in Healthcare and Business, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Doctor of Pharmacy, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies.
