Starting Wage DOE: $23.92 - 29.90
Acute Care PhysicalTherapy Assistant under the supervision of a physical therapist, administersphysical therapy treatments to patients. Work may be performed in one or moreareas of Billings Clinic outpatient settings. Skills in multidisciplinary teamcare conferences, discharge planning, evaluating and treating acutely ill patients,medically complex patients in acute care, participation in ergonomics trainingand interdepartmental education and departmental work teams, oversight of Rehabtechs and PTA students. Use of multiple aspects of EMR for documentation,billing and communication. Shift requirements may vary, working weekends andholidays.
Essential Job Functions
Supports and models behaviors consistent with themission and philosophy of Billings Clinic and department/service.
Administers active and passive manual therapeuticexercises, therapeutic massage and electrical modality treatments such asultrasound, electrical stimulation, hot/cold modalities.
Instructs, motivates, and assists patients to learn andimprove functional activities.
Observes patients during treatments and compiles andevaluates data on patients responses to treatments and progress. Coordinatesinformation with the Physical Therapist. Documents in medical records accordingto established procedures in an acute care setting.
Fits patients for, adjusts, and trains patients in useand care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices, such ascrutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs.
Coordinates and confers with other members of thehealth care team to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information forplanning, modifying, and coordinating treatment care plans.
May measure patients range of joint motion, length andgirth of body parts, and vital signs to determine effects of specifictreatments or to assist physical therapist to compile data for patientevaluations.
Performs other clerical duties, such as timely andaccurate entry of patient charges, taking inventory, ordering supplies,answering telephones, taking messages, or completing forms.
Utilizes performance improvement principles to assessand improve quality.
Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth anddevelopment; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.Participates and attends educational meetings with respect to continuingeducation, co-worker in-services, and Billings Clinic educational courseofferings to enhance knowledge and further professional skills.
Maintains competency in all organizational,departmental and outside agency safety standards relevant to job performance.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed tomeet the needs of the department/organization
Minimum Qualifications
Education
2 Year / Associate Degree - Physical TherapyAssistant degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant school
Certifications and Licenses
Healthcare Provider CPR certification required at hire
Montana Physical Therapy Assistant license
