Acute Respiratory Therapist
MLR Healthcare (Recruiting) is seeking a full-time, permanent, direct-hire Respiratory Therapist to join a skilled team at a respected acute-care hospital in Texas. In this position, you will provide specialized respiratory therapy services in accordance with established protocols, delivering therapeutic interventions to support patients' respiratory recovery and overall health.
Salary: $55,786 - $94,575 per year
Responsibilities of a Respiratory Therapist:
- Physician Collaboration: Work in close partnership with physicians to assess patient conditions and create customized respiratory care plans.
- Diagnostic Assessments: Perform evaluations to determine patients respiratory needs and recommend appropriate treatment interventions.
- Shift Schedule: Night shifts with alternating weekends, working three 12-hour shifts per week.
- Environmental Evaluation: Assess patients' home or workplace settings and recommend changes to promote independence and improve respiratory health.
- Data Entry: Accurately input patient data into electronic health records.
- Compliance with Safety Standards: Ensure that the work environment complies with OSHA and NIOSH safety regulations.
Requirements:
- Licensure: Active Respiratory Care license in Texas.
- Certification Maintenance: Keep current with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and follow Continuing Competency Program (CCP) guidelines.
- New Graduates: Obtain CRT certification and pursue RRT certification within one year of graduation, ensuring active NBRC status. Failure to obtain RRT within the specified period will result in reassignment to a Respiratory Care Practitioner role until certification is achieved.
- Basic Life Support (BLS): Certification must be obtained before engaging with patients.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS): Certification must be completed within six months.
- Pediatric Emergency (ENPC or PALS): Certification required within one year.
- Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP): Certification must be completed within one year.
