Job Description


1. Education: Minimum Associate’s degree in occupational therapy from an accredited institution offering training in this specialty, plus a supervised clinical internship to prepare for professional licensing. Must complete examination with scores required to obtain licensure. Must have a current license to practice occupational therapy assisting in the State of Arkansas.
2. Training and Experience: One to three months on-the job training to learn department procedures.

3. Job Knowledge: Must be able to perform job duties of a certified occupational therapist assistant and those general duties specific to the Rehabilitative Services Department. Must be able to function in a professional manner with minimal direct supervision.

4. Safety Sensitive: YES
In the interest of protecting the health and safety of all patients, associates, and guests, Unity Health has classified some positions as “safety sensitive.” A “safety sensitive” position is any job position in which impaired performance could result in harm to the health and/or safety of self or others. Any associate that is actively engaged in the use of medical marijuana, even if in possession of a valid medical marijuana card, will be excluded from employment in a “safety sensitive” position.

DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for maintaining standards of patient care in accordance with hospital regulations, policies and procedures as established for occupational therapy. Confers with the occupational therapist and medical staff regarding policies and procedures pertaining to the care of their patients in this area. Supervises therapy aides. Must exhibit good rapport with other departments and nursing staff to enhance the quality of patient care. Active in continuous quality improvement studies. Assists with securing and maintaining equipment needed for procedures, charging, and scheduling.

Physical Effort: Required to lift and carry equipment, supplies and materials. Assists patients in positioning and transfers as needed for specific treatment programs. Talking and hearing to convey instructions and information to patients and staff members. Visual acuity to perceive reactions to treatment and to read instructions.
