Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Occupational Therapy. This includes a nine-month supervised clinical affiliation or a Master of Occupational Therapy with six months of clinical field work.
State licensure is required
Skills reflect a range of experience and knowledge in occupational therapy theory and practice
Ability to work independently
Ability to work with children from birth to 3 years of age within the community
Valid Texas Driver's License and Proof of Insurance
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Comply with district and licensure ethics
Primary Purpose:
The person in this position provides evaluation, consultative and direct services in the treatment of children with physical and/or mental disabilities in their natural environment.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess and determine a child's developmental competencies and reassess those competencies at annual intervals.
- Complete individual assessments of a child's motor skills.
- Prepare summary reports regarding individual motor assessments that clearly states recommendations and/or support for continuing service needs.
- Coordinate and participate as a member of an IFSP (Individual Family Service Plan) meeting, helping parents determine family centered outcomes and strategies that will address their concerns for their child as well as any developmental delay or disorder.
- Plan and implement an instructional program that includes functional outcomes which follow a developmental sequence and provide activities for caregivers and child participation.
- Determine developmentally appropriate evaluation tools and intervention materials.
- Communicate developmental activities effectively to parents, teachers/directors, and other team members.
- Plan, schedule and implement all direct/indirect occupational therapy services as needed.
- Implement services within the child's home and/or community setting, including daycare or home care situations.
- Function as consultant and instructor for parents and program staff as required.
- Review and make recommendations regarding curriculums and programs that may be appropriate for intervention.
- Participate in staff meetings, team meetings and team staffing for enrolled children.
- Maintain service-related records, including but not limited to audit folders, progress notes, service coordination notes, evaluation summaries and any required district, state or federal documentation.
- Maintain and meet all required federal, state and local timelines.
- Follow ECI Program billing and reimbursement policies and procedures.
- Participate in public awareness activities and in-service trainings as required.
- Maintain continuing education requirements for licensure and professional certification.
- Provide own transportation when providing services in the child's natural environment (home/community).
- Provide service coordination and case management needs for the child and family.
- Participate in Medicaid Administrative Claiming (MAC) Time Studies.
- Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:
Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; constantly operates a computer and other office productivity technology; frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling; constant mobility from office location to service sites; moderately lifting and carrying 15-44 pounds daily; use of adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs, standers, communication devices, etc.; district wide travel requiring use of personal vehicle.
