Position Summary Outpatient Physical Therapist
As part of the adult rehab team, you will evaluate, treat, and manage individualized therapy programs for patients recovering from injury, surgery, or chronic health conditions. Youll collaborate with medical providers and family members to deliver care that supports long-term mobility and wellness.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive physical therapy evaluations and document findings using approved EMR systems
- Design and implement tailored treatment plans, including strength training, balance, gait, and range-of-motion therapies
- Administer appropriate physical therapy modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, cryotherapy, and manual therapy
- Educate patients and caregivers on home programs, recovery goals, and safety techniques
- Communicate effectively with referring providers and contribute to interdisciplinary treatment planning
- Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) and Rehab Techs as needed
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation and ensure treatment aligns with coding and billing standards
- Participate in ongoing performance improvement efforts and professional development
Qualifications
Education:
- Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program (DPT, MPT, or BSPT accepted)
Licensure & Certification:
- Active New Mexico Physical Therapy license
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association
Experience:
- New graduates are encouraged to apply; prior experience in outpatient or orthopedic rehab is a plus
Key Skills:
- Strong communication and clinical reasoning
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Familiarity with electronic documentation and therapy outcome measures
