Job Summary and Qualifications

The Physical Therapist Assistantis responsible forproviding services that help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients with injuries or disease as directed by the Physical Therapist. The Physical Therapist Assistant works closely with the Physical Therapist and patients to restore,maintain, and promote the patient's overall fitness and health. The Physical Therapist Assistant may alsobe requiredto make assessments and give input to the Physical Therapist to allow for a professional determination of the patients ability to beindependent and reintegrate into the community or workplace after injury or illness ordeterminethe need for placement in a SNF/Rehab Unit. Finally, they must be able to communicate changes in the patient's condition to the Physical Therapist, appropriately document the treatments, its purpose, and the patient's progress toward the established goals/outcomes.

What you will do in this role:

  • You willdemonstratethe knowledge and skills necessary to provideappropriate carefor patient populations served inhis/her department.

  • You willdemonstrateknowledge to assess, plan, evaluate, and document care in coordination with the health care team across thecontinuum.

  • You will assess patients/familiesability to learn and incorporate teaching throughout hospitalization and in preparation fordischarge.

  • You will deliver compassionate, holistic care, while supporting the rights and dignity of all patients.

What qualifications you will need:

  • State of Tennessee Physical Therapist Assistant License Required.

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited PTA program

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, current

  • *Obtained/maintainedwithintimeframesrequired by hospital policy
