Speech - Language Pathologist
Morris County Special Education CooperativeQualifications:
Certificate of Clinical Competence Preferred
Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university.
Valid Texas license as a speech-language pathologist granted by the SBESLPA
or
Bachelor’s Degree and Valid Texas Teacher Certificate/ Speech Language Therapy Certificate/Valid Speech Language Pathology Assistant’s license
Special Knowledge and Skills:
Assess, diagnose, treat, and help prevent disorders related to speech, language, cognitive- communication, and fluency in school-aged children (ages 3-21), which adversely affect their
educational performance.
Develop an Individualized plan of care (IEP) tailored to each student’s needs.
Select augmentative or communication methods, teach their use to students, and educated teachers and parents on the device’s functioning for individuals with little to no speech capability.
Must comply with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and board policy.
