Job Description
We are hiring a Physical Therapist for our outpatient clinic. The assistant will implement physical therapy programs and activities, follow developed recovery plans, and deliver therapy treatments. The assistant is equally adept at addressing the whole patient and seeing them as individuals. The assistant understands that the goal is to execute a program that restores, reinforces, and enhances the patient's physical abilities.
Responsibilities:
- Provides patient care by established protocols and patient care guidelines.
- Responsible for timely documentation, including daily notes, weekly workers' compensation reports, progress reports, and incident reports.
- Provide comprehensive patient care, administer active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, heat, light, sound, water, and electrical modality treatment such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, ultraviolet, infrared, and hot and cold packs.
- Administers traction to relieve neck and back pain.
- Instruct, motivate and assist patients in learning and improving functional activities such as perambulation, transfer, ambulation, and daily living activities.
- Observe patients during treatments, compile data on patients' responses to treatments and progress, and report orally or in writing to the Physical Therapist and/or Clinical Director.
- Fits patients for, adjusts, and trains patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs.
- Confers with physical therapy staff members and other health team members, individually and in conference, to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs.
- Measures the patient's range of joint motion, length and girth of body parts, and vital signs to determine the effects of specific treatments or to assist the Physical Therapist in compiling data for patient evaluations.
Qualifications
- Graduate from CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapy program.
- Current state of Virginia license and CPR certification.
- Able to create and implement outpatient balance and vestibular rehabilitation-setting treatment plans.
- Ability to work efficiently/effectively in an autonomous environment.
- Possesses basic PC skills and knowledge, including but not limited to Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, Database software, and MS Office.
