Overview
The Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA), under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist observes patient progress, recommends changes in treatment plan of care based on patient's response to treatment and educates the patient to the purpose of the treatment and expected results/effects. TheOTA documents progress notes in the medical record; maintains departmental records and complies with regulatory agencies; demonstrates awareness of safety issues, indications/contraindications of treatment, patient privacy and confidentiality; provides support within the department as needed and within the community for education.
Qualifications
Age of Patients Served:All age groupsRequired Education:Associate's degree - Graduate of an accredited school for Occuptional Therapy Assistant approved by the Accreditation Council for Occupatioanl Therapy Education in collaboration with the Americal Occupational Therapy Association.Necessary Skills:Demonstrates knowledge and skill in a broad range of Occupational Therapy services and settings. Demonstrates strong communication skills. Demonstrates basic splinting skills. Demonstrates strong ability to use computer and various common programs such as Word and ExcelRequired Licensure/Certification:Licensed Occupational Therapist Assistant in state of FloridaRequired Experience:Less than one year - Clinical experience in acute care facility and/or skilled nursing facility.Preferred Experience:Experience in acute care setting, skilled nursing unit, wound care, out patient setting.
