Assist in the performance of occupational therapy treatment procedures and related duties under the supervision and direction of a licensed occupational therapist.
Responsibilities- Assist in the assessment of occupational therapy treatment.
- Document patient care and progress to include keeping records and statistics.
- Assist in educating patients about their care and treatment.
- Assist the Occupational Therapist in the clinical instruction of occupational therapy assistant students.
- Care of environment and equipment, review inventory and the working condition of equipment.
- Attending meetings and in-service programs.
- Comply with department and regulatory standards and policies.
- Recommend changes in procedures as appropriate.
- Performs other tasks as requested.
Qualifications
Education:
- Associate’s Degree from an AOTA accredited physical therapist assistant program.
Experience:
- May be new graduate but some experience in occupational therapy programs helpful and preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to fully utilize BHMC’s electronic record systems, equipment and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.
Licenses, Certifications:
- Associate’s Degree from an AOTA accredited occupational therapist assistant program.
- New York State Certification as Occupational Therapist Assistant and current NYS Registration.
Physical Requirements :
- Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.
- Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds.
