Job Description
Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) - Home Health
Work Setting: Hybrid (Field-based with administrative flexibility)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Compensation: $36-$40 per hour
Travel Required: Yes (must have valid driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation)

Position Summary
The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) will work under the supervision of a registered Occupational Therapist to help patients regain or maintain independence in daily living tasks. This role plays a vital part in the rehabilitation process by delivering hands-on care, promoting patient education, and supporting treatment goals outlined in the individualized care plans.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in evaluating patients' physical and functional abilities, including muscle function, endurance, communication, self-care skills, and work readiness, as delegated by the Occupational Therapist.
Participate in evaluating the patient's home environment to identify hazards or support independent living goals.
Instruct and retrain patients in daily activities affected by illness or injury.
Document patient progress and responses to therapy, reporting changes to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
Submit clinical documentation in accordance with organizational policy (same-day submission required).
Support patient care plans through consistent, goal-directed interventions aligned with therapy objectives.
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Assistant program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
National Certification by the American Occupational Therapy Association
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)
Current BLS CPR certification
Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable vehicle
Strong observation, communication, and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant studies
1 year of home health care experience
Comfort with mobile documentation systems and clinical compliance tools
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand (up to 3 hours), walk (2 hours), and sit (3 hours) per 8-hour shift
Capable of lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally
Requires bending, kneeling, twisting, reaching, occasional crawling/climbing
Must be physically fit for patient handling, travel across varied terrain, and exposure to different environments
