Speech Language Speech Pathologist Assistant

GSSEC is seeking a qualified and motivated Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to support the delivery of speech and language services to students across our school district. Under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, the SLPA will assist in implementing therapy plans, providing direct services to students, and supporting communication development in educational settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide speech-language therapy services to students as directed by and under the supervision of a licensed SLP.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
  • Document student progress and maintain accurate records as directed.
  • Prepare therapy materials and adapt activities for individual student needs.
  • Conduct screenings and assist with informal assessments as permitted by state and district policy.
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to support student communication goals.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development as required.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assisting or a bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders (or related field) with SLPA coursework and training.
  • Current or eligible for Indiana SLPA registration through the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA).
  • Experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively as part of a school-based therapy team.

Working Conditions:

  • School-based setting with services provided in classrooms, therapy rooms, and/or virtually if needed.
  • May be required to travel between school sites within the district.
