Reports to: Dean of Nursing and Allied Health
Olympic College is recruiting a Full-Time Tenure-Track Faculty - Program Director position for the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program. This role is responsible for overseeing the curriculum, accreditation compliance, and overall effectiveness of the PTA program. The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that students receive high-quality education and training that meets industry standards, leading to successful certification and employment in the field of Physical Therapist Assistant. Essential Functions
  • Coordinate the overall PTA Program activities with the Dean of Health Sciences
  • Provide overall effective leadership and vision for the PTA Program;
  • Administer and oversee the programs operations, including curriculum development, instructional methods, scheduling, and assessment.
  • Ensure compliance with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapist Assistant Education (CAPTE) standards and guidelines;
  • Mentor new faculty and provide feedback to the program evaluation process;
  • Coordinate with Dean faculty recruitment, training, and professional development;
  • Maintain the programs accreditation status with CAPTE, ensuring all documentation, reports, and updates are submitted in a timely and accurate manner;
  • Implement and evaluate program policies and procedures to ensure alignment with accreditation requirements;
  • Conduct self-assessments and prepare for external reviews and accreditation site visits;
  • Oversee and participate in local events related to student recruitment and any other activities related to PTA program and community outreach;
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop, review, and revise the programs curriculum to support current industry standards and best practices;
  • Teach evening, distance, and branch campus courses when required;
  • Provide quality teaching including related preparation, grading, and record keeping;
  • Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes by the first day of classes and to the division office as requested;
  • Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning environments and activities;
  • Provide student advising for career/academic pathways, mentoring, and support;
  • Contribute to development of composition curriculum and student learning outcomes;
  • Contribute to the assessment of student learning and program outcomes annually;
  • Punctual communication with students, faculty, staff and administrators;
  • Maintain physical office hours for student consultation;
  • Attend faculty, department and division meetings and serve on college committees;
  • Serve on appropriate college and community committees;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Has an unencumbered WA state license as a Physical Therapist (PT) or an unencumbered certification/license as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) from an accredited program;
  • Has a minimum of a masters degree
  • Has a minimum of five years (or equivalent), full-time, post licensure experience that includes a minimum of three years (or equivalent) of full-time clinical experience within the United States jurisdiction;
  • Experience in classroom, lab, or clinical teaching experience;
  • Experience in administration, management, and leadership.
  • Experiences derived from the clinic are acceptable and professional development or education in all the following: educational theory and methodology, instructional design, student evaluation, and outcome assessment.
  • Have documented education or experience in instructional methodology, curriculum design, and program planning.

Preferred Qualification
  • Have experience with accreditation standards (CAPTE);
  • Experience with curriculum development and Canvas LMS; and
  • Experience working in a community college.

Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment.

This is a full-time faculty position contracted on an annual basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual contract days remaining in the academic year. The salary listed is a range based on per month for the quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments may be a part of the instructional load.
