Primary Purpose:

To assess, diagnose, and provide therapy for students with speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders in both English and Spanish. The Bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist will support students' communication needs and academic success while ensuring compliance with IDEA and Texas Education Agency (TEA) regulations.

Qualifications:

Education / Certification

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Valid Texas licensure by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR)
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA preferred
  • Bilingual certification or native/near-native fluency in Spanish (required)

Special Knowledge / Skills:

  • Proficiency in conducting evaluations and delivering therapy in both English and Spanish
  • Knowledge of bilingual language development and disorders
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience with documentation platforms such as eSped (preferred)

Experience:

  • Experience in school-based or pediatric setting preferred
  • Experience with culturally and linguistically diverse populations
  • Familiarity with IDEA, ARD processes, and educational settings

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations for English and Spanish-speaking students.
  • Participate in ARD meetings and provide recommendations based on assessment results.
  • Develop and implement individualized speech-language therapy plans aligned with students' IEP goals.
  • Deliver therapy services in English and Spanish, as appropriate, based on students' linguistic needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of therapy sessions, progress notes, and Medicaid billing (SHARS), as applicable.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to support students' communication and educational goals.
  • Assist in the identification of students with communication disorders as part of the evaluation or Child Find process.
  • Provide training to staff and parents regarding communication development and strategies for supporting bilingual students.
  • Maintain compliance with all state and federal requirements, including timelines, service minutes, and paperwork accuracy.
  • Travel to assigned campuses within the district, as needed.
  • May direct and monitor the work of speech therapy assistant(s) or speech aide(s).

Frequent sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Frequent walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension

Regular light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds), occasional heaving lifting (45 pounds

or more) and positioning of students with physical disabilities; controlling behavior through

physical restraint; assisting nonambulatory students; high stress and fast-paced
