Job Overview
Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for a per diem Recreational Therapist to join our Rehab team.
Responsibilities
As a part of the interdisciplinary team, the Recreational Therapist provides individual therapeutic recreation services and group recreation programs for children and adolescents hospitalized for orthopedic and/or burn surgical intervention or long term rehabilition programs. In this position, you'll provide abudnant play and normal life experiences to promote development, understanding and to alleviate misconceptions to allow an opportunity for positive growth experiences by the patient.
Provides evaluation and therapeutic services, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and community reintegration in an efficient manner.Works with multidisciplinary team to design and implement individualized treatment plans to restore, remediate, or rehabilitate functional abilities in order to improve or maintain independence and quality of life; as well as reduce activity limitations and restrictions to participate in leisure.Functions as a team member and develops leadership through activities such as mentoring and providing education to students and other professionals.

Qualifications
Education
Bachelors degree in Recreational Therapy required
Certification/Licensure
Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) required
Licensed in state of practice
Skills
1 year Pediatric Recreational Therapy experience preferred
