What you will do:
Plan, organize, direct, or assess clinical and evidenced-based music therapy interventions to positively influence resident's physical, psychological, cognitive, or behavioral status
What you will need:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in music or music therapy from an accredited program.
- Board certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT).
- Strong musical skills and proficiency in at least one instrument
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities include but aren't limited too:
- Evaluate clients' needs, strengths, and preferences through interviews, observations, and standardized assessment tools.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans that incorporate music to achieve specific therapeutic goals.
- With the resident utilize a variety of music therapy techniques, including songwriting, improvisation, music listening, and guided imagery, to facilitate healing and personal growth.
- Collect data and assess resident needs to facilitate the best care approach to intervein with music modalities
- Monitor and document clients' progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed based on regular assessments and feedback
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, educators, and family members to provide comprehensive care and support, working loosely with the Interdisciplinary Team to formulate a plan for holistic resident goals
- Promote education and advocacy for clients, families, and the community about the benefits of music therapy and advocate for its inclusion in treatment plans.
