Sidney Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Physical Therapist to join our educational team. In this role, you will assess students' physical development, report on their progress, and develop individualized therapy plans to support their physical needs within both school and early intervention settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate students from birth through age 21 to identify physical challenges that impact their ability to access and participate in educational activities.
- Develop and implement individualized physical therapy plans in coordination with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs).
- Provide early intervention services to infants and toddlers, working closely with families to support motor development and functional independence.
- Monitor and document student progress; adjust therapy goals and interventions as needed.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, parents, and multidisciplinary teams to support student success.
- Promote independence by improving mobility, motor coordination, balance, strength, and adaptive functioning.
- Provide training and support to staff and families on positioning, mobility, and use of adaptive equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and district regulations related to physical therapy services.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Physical Therapist in the state of Nebraska (or eligible for licensure).
- Experience working with children from birth to 21, including early intervention services, preferred but not necessary.
- Knowledge of IDEA, IEPs, IFSPs, and best practices in pediatric physical therapy is beneficial but additional training is available.
- Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
