The staff Occupational Therapist (OT is involved with direct patient care for hospital inpatients and outpatients. The occupational therapist will abide by all responsibilities as outlined by their contract with TVHC.
Job Description:
The staff occupational therapist (OT) is a licensed professional who works with patients to facilitate health and well-being through engagement in occupation. Occupation can be defined as active process of living from the beginning to the end of life. Occupations are all the active processes of looking after ourselves and others, enjoying life, and being socially and economically productive over the lifespan and in various contexts.
The OT examines each individual, develops a Plan of Care (POC), and uses treatment techniques to help his/her clients work towards a more independent life with the feeling of accomplishment. The OT continually reassesses the patient's status and adjusts the therapy techniques as needed. The OT is also responsible for consulting with the patient or responsible person, the patient's medical provider and other agency personnel regarding the POC. The occupational therapy services are provided in accordance with provider's orders and as defined by the occupational therapy standards of practice. The occupational therapist performs all duties in a professional and ethical manner, collaborating with the other members of the health care team, ensuring quality patient care.
