Position Summary:
Assists respiratory therapists with preparing for and providing patient care.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GE or Associate Degree in Science required
- Current Respiratory Therapist Licensure to practice in the state of Kentucky.
- Three or more years of previous experience in all aspects of cardiopulmonary services preferred.
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire date.
- Current American Heart Association ACLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire date
- Current American Heart Association PALS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire date.
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Essential Functions:
- Delivers routine therapy as delegated by a therapist.
- Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance.
- Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition.
- Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources.
- Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders.
- Maintains storage areas with required supply levels and equipment.
- Disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes equipment, and performs preventative maintenance and calibration of machines.
