MHPC Occupational Therapy Adjunct Instructor (Union, Missouri)

The adjunct instructor is responsible for assisting the primary lab instructor in the instruction and assessment of lab skills at the Columbia campus of Moberly Area Community College.

Essential Duties:

  • Assess student competencies of skill sets
  • Prepare and set up lab as directed by primary instructor
  • Teach and observe OT skills as related to course material
  • Grade assignments within the course.
  • Submit course grades by the due date.
  • Meet with students, as needed, related to courses taught.
  • Utilize on-line platforms, such as Canvas, Zoom, and software to support teaching responsibilities.
  • Attend meetings with supervisor as requested or as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold current license to practice occupational therapy in the state of Missouri.
  • Must be initially certified by NBCOT as an occupational therapist (OTR/L) or occupational therapy assistant (COTA/L).
  • Must hold a current driver's license.
  • Must hold a current BLS certification.

Education:

  • Initially certified as an occupational therapy assistant (OTA) or occupational therapist (OT)
  • Licensed in the state of Missouri
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • At least an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant is required of occupational therapy assistants and a minimum of a bachelor's degree.

Skills:

  • Clerical - knowledge of office administrative procedures, including accurate record-keeping
  • Computer - ability to perform basic computer processes, including word processing, web browsing, and utilization of Microsoft Office
  • Technical Knowledge and Application - proficiency with the online learning environment, including the creation of digital media and utilization of learning management systems
  • Documented expertise in work environment as an OTA or OT.
  • Critical Thinking - uses logic and reasoning to look at different types of information in order to make conclusions and work through problems
  • Research - Locates key facts and information to learn more about different types of information
  • Interpersonal Skills - communicates and interacts with people effectively while being aware of social perceptions
  • Strong documented background in Pediatrics, Mental Health, Kinesiology, and Physical Disabilities
