SUMMARY:
Provision of recreation services in accordance with residents wishes and needs and program standards, taking place inside and outside the facility. Programming for activities both inside and outside the facility includes planning, preparation and clean-up of activity areas, equipment and supplies, communication with all other disciplines, inviting and escorting residents, leading groups, 1:1 services to residents and documentation of participation in computer.
This position allows the aide to use their creativity and support resident's in finding their purpose, support their emotional and social needs and provide quality independent and group activities while working with the community in providing activities such as volunteers and outings.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads or co-leads therapeutic recreation programs according to monthly calendar and staffing schedule. Programs include inside and outside the facility activities.
Assists with/formulates monthly recreation calendar, offering programs in accordance with resident needs and interests
Performs daily/weekly/monthly duties of: Newspaper, birthday, calendar deliveries, department spaces and equipment set up/clean up, Etc.
Purchases, maintains and gathers equipment and supplies.
Trains and supervises students and volunteers as appropriate.
Communicates with residents, staff, volunteers and family members.
Loading and unloading residents on and off facility bus.
Participates fully as a team member in departmental meetings, meetings relevant to resident care and other meetings as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma required.
Strong analytical, computer and communication skills
Ability to lead groups
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associates degree with a major in Therapeutic Recreation or Human Services is preferred
Experience in the field of geriatrics or activity programming is preferred, however, will consider a new graduate.
