- Provide educationally related occupational therapy services to students with special needs to enable them to access the academic program in their educational setting.
- Conduct educationally related occupational therapy assessments that include student observation, records review, and standardized and non-standardized testing in areas of suspected disability and need.
- Plan an occupational therapy program to meet student educational goals, and collaborate with staff and families to identify strategies, methods and patterns of instructional support that enhance achievement to provide coordinated services.
- Write assessment reports for use in determining eligibility, present performance levels, progress, goals, objectives and appropriate interventions.
- Develop goals and objectives for the Individualized Education Programs. Maintain and record progress notes in student records or other designated reporting formats; maintain documentation as required to ensure compliance with administrative policies and state and federal laws and regulations.
- Coordinate the implementation of goals and objectives, and monitor progress towards those goals. Reevaluate students' individual occupational therapy needs on a regular basis.
- Plan, develop and provide staff development to Special Education and General Education staff members.
- Communicate and establish collaborative relationships with families regarding occupational therapy services including home programs to meet the needs of families and students.
- Serve as a resource for staff on issues related to occupational therapy; provide training in individual or group setting.
- Act as a liaison between the school district and other agencies as necessary.
- Review reports from health care providers and coordinate occupational therapy services to meet the needs of students.
- Perform other duties as required to maintain the integrity of the educationally related occupational therapy program.
