Northshore Education Consortium is an educational collaborative that provides intensive special education services to children and youth with emotional, behavioral and developmental disabilities.Northshore Academy Upper School provides an alternative educational program for students in grades 7-12 who require a therapeutic program to address their social, emotional and behavioral health needs. Positive, trusting relationships are at the core of teaching and learning at Northshore Academy.The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for delivering comprehensive speech and language services, including but not limited to: consulting and collaborating with students teams and families, providing initial and triennial evaluations, contributing to IEP development and implementing appropriate treatment programs. Caseloads may vary to include individual and group work. Specialized services within our programs include therapies involving augmentative and alternative communication, and social pragmatics skills interventions.Position Summary: Seeking a dynamic individual who is able to build strong relationships for students in grades 7-12 in order to maximize their successes within individual and group sessions, fostering an atmosphere of learning and growth in the areas of social pragmatic communication skills. Evaluate students both informally and formally to determine their functional levels including social pragmatic functioning; and identify strengths and weaknesses as well as recommend therapeutic interventions and accommodations.Design and implement social thinking therapeutic individual and group programs/IEP objectives in order to assist students to access the educational environment and to develop to their fullest potential.Collaborate with staff to ensure consistency of programming. Evaluate students both informally and formally to determine their functional levels including social pragmatic functioning;and identify strengths and weaknesses as well as recommend therapeutic interventions and accommodations.Design and implement social thinking therapeutic individual and group programs/IEP objectives in order to assist students to access the educational environment and to develop to their fullest potential.This position will include individual speech-language therapy sessions, group therapy, family communication and administrative duties. Specific Duties: Evaluates students therapy needs and develops goals and objectives (to be considered as part of the Team process). Assesses students needs for support in the areas of receptive and expressive language and social communication skills. Qualifications: Please refer to CBA for complete job description.Education/Training/Experience: Masters Degree in Communication Disorders. MA DESE Certification: Specialist Teacher, Speech/Language/Hearing Disorder, All levels; MA State License as a Speech-Language Pathologist granted by the Board of Registration for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (CCC holders), CCC preferred, will consider strong CF. Experience with students challenged by depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD or Autism Spectrum Disorders.
