The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) performs a variety of therapy procedures and treatments under the direction of the Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR); assisting clients to improve their ability to perform daily living tasks, basic motor functions and cognitive ability.
Hours: On call
Pay: Dependent on experience, starting at $30.00/hour and up
Primary responsibilities
- Provide Occupational Therapy treatments and proceduresto clients under the direction of a Registered Occupational Therapist (OTR),and in accordance with physician orders.
- Collaborate with the IDT (interdisciplinary team) and OTR to ensure adequate and appropriate flow of services.
- Provide support and counseling to individuals and families concerning loss of function, and coping with issues as they relate.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory and organization requirements.
- Assist in the maintenance of up-to-date program and techniques to enhance occupational therapy services provided.
- Support various other Rehab responsibilities as needed.
Job Specifications
Education, Experience and Credentials
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited school in Occupational Therapy Assistant required.
- One or more years experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant working with a geriatric population preferred.
- Must be registered and licensed with the State of Minnesota as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant and must maintain licensure.
- CPR/First Aid certified through American Red Cross required.
