Purpose of Role Daemen University's Institute for Mobility Innovation & Technology (IMIT) is a world-class physical therapy clinic focusing on neurologic, orthopedic, and chronic condition management. The IMIT features industry-leading rehabilitation devices including the Hocoma Lokomat, Bioness Vector, Lifeward Alter G, Indego Ekso, and many others that allow for advanced gait rehabilitation and opportunities for patients to achieve their highest potential. About This Opportunity The IMIT Physical Therapist will be a full-time clinician working with Daemen's IMIT team to provide patient care. This position requires attention to detail, a collaborative mindset, and a passion to work with children and adults with a range of diagnoses including stroke, spinal cord injury, TBI, post-concussion, MS, Parkinson's, vestibular disorders, limb amputations, joint replacements, athletic injuries, etc. Responsibilities include: Familiarity with or willingness to learn advanced rehabilitation technology and apply to patient care Familiarity with APTA best practices and Clinical Practice Guidelines Expertise in treating children and adults with chronic neurologic and orthopedic conditions Review patient medical records, perform initial examinations, develop treatment plans, administer physical therapy treatments, monitor progress and document treatments performed with patients (including discharge planning and patient education) in order to increase overall functioning, reduce discomfort, increase or maintain flexibility and range of motion/strength, and achieve other therapeutic goals Maintains professional license/registration through steady pursuit and participation in appropriate continuing education and professional development opportunities to satisfy requirements for licensure/registration renewal Coordinate with other interprofessional providers on shared plan of care and health outcome goals Provide continuity of patient care through written and verbal communication with other health care professionals; make recommendations for needed patient care equipment prior to patient discharge Maintain patient confidentiality Demonstrate effective time management May serve as a clinical instructor for physical therapy student clinical internship placements May assist the IMIT Clinical Director with Daemen PT and Villa Maria PTA student laboratory classes Required Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Physical Therapist graduate of an accredited program approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) ABPTS Neurologic Clinical Specialist (NCS) or Pediatric Clinical Specialist (PCS) preferred Licensure, certifications, and clearances Active, unrestricted, PT license in NYS CPR certification required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal Experience conducting clinical based research and writing grants is a plus Total Compensation Daemen University offers a robust total compensation package that includes: Health insurance with an option of two plans: an HSA plan with the deductible funded by employer HSA contributions, or a copay plan.
