POSITION SUMMARY: To help reduce or eliminate communication-related impairments that interfere with the individual student's ability to drive full benefit from the District's educational program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as a resource to school staff members for professional development regarding communication related skills.
Assists and guides teacher in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments.
Provides a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of students with speech and language impairments.
Provides a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech and language impairments.
Assists in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate.
Provides an individualized program of speech and language therapy to meet individual student's needs.
Collaborates with classroom teacher and other staff members in the implementation of therapy into daily activities.
Accurately completes requisition forms to request appropriate materials and equipment for speech and language programs that comply with the budget.
Maintains accurate, complete and correct records and inventories as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
Cooperates and communicates with building principals concerning the speech therapy program in their school.
