Wabash Miami Area Program for Exceptional Children is a Special Education Cooperative serving Manchester Community Schools, MSD of Wabash County, North Miami Community Schools, Peru Community Schools, and Wabash City Schools. Positions hired by Wabash Miami Area Program serve multiple corporations. Cooperative positions hold contracts with the LEA, MSD of Wabash County.

Job Requirements:

  • Valid Physical Therapy Certification and Physical Therapy License for the State of Indiana
  • All field work requirements
  • Good health and physical strength to work with students with severe physical limitations
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with educators, parents, and students

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Provide or supervise physical therapy services to eligible students:

a. Evaluate motor and sensory skills, assistive technology, and range of motion of students in participating schools as referred by psychologists, supervisors,

b. Provide direct Physical Therapy when necessary.

c. Collaborate in the provision of motor groups including scheduling, writing motor programs, conducting groups, documenting and maintaining records, and

working with administrators, teachers, and paraprofessionals.

d. Attend Case Conferences and Annual Case Reviews as needed.

e. Supervision of the Physical Therapy Assistant, including regular meetings, goal setting, and evaluation.

f. Consult with teachers within the participating corporations.

  1. Observe and model Physical Therapy activities for teachers and paraprofessionals.

  2. Provide on going in-services for teachers, paraprofessionals, and others working with students identified with PT needs.

  3. Evaluate wheelchair and orthoses for proper use and fit

  4. Demonstrate effective communication and organizational skills in performing assigned tasks and duties including up to date Medicaid billing.

  5. Comply with all local, state, and federal rules and regulations and policies.

  6. Commit to personal and professional development and growth as an effective member of the Wabash Miami Area Program team

a. Attend staff, team, and building meetings as needed/requested.

  1. Maintains Confidentiality Adheres to all Corporation guidelines associated with confidentiality and social media use.

  2. Complete any other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
